Made by a tutor who needed it
Writeboard is built and run by Oliver Woodcock, a published astrophysics researcher, software developer and online tutor. It exists because the whiteboards he taught on cost more and remembered less: a lesson was a link that scrolled away, and a term of work was nowhere.

Who makes it
One person. The research habit is to measure before claiming: every page here carries an updated date, every claim about a rival has its source underneath, and the walkthrough is recorded from the real product on every release. The developer habit is to build it properly: real A4 pages, every stroke kept, tests before features. The tutor habit is to notice what a fourteen-year-old actually does with a whiteboard, and design for that.
What it is for
One-to-one tuition, mostly on an iPad with a pencil. Every lesson lands on real A4 pages in a book the student keeps, past papers go under the ink, homework is the question you boxed, and a term exports as one PDF. Nothing more ambitious than that, done properly.
How it is run
A UK limited company, Writeboard Ltd, owned and run by one person. One server in London, encrypted backups, no investors, no adverts and no trackers. Prices are in pounds and published: free for two students, £6 a month for a tutoring business. Payments are taken by Paddle, who handle the tax wherever you are.
One person: what happens to my students' work?
A fair question before you put a year of lessons somewhere. The work is backed up continuously to one company and again every night to a second, and a restore from the backups is tested every month. You can export any student's books as PDFs, or everything in your account, at any time, on every plan including Free. And if Writeboard ever closes, the terms promise every account at least 90 days' notice by email, with exports open to the last day. Nothing you make is deleted because you stop paying.
