Pricing
Free for two students, for as long as you like, and a student never pays. Every plan has the same board, the same pencil and the same exports; the paid plans add students, room, lesson links and records.
In pounds, nothing metered by the session. The teaching plans are before tax: Paddle is our merchant of record and adds the VAT or sales tax due where you live, so a UK tutor pays £7.20 on the £6 plan. The Learner price includes VAT.

Agency is Team with the paperwork: a record on every student, their school files, and progress reports drafted overnight. £79 a month to 40 students, £189 to 120, £379 to 300, on the same rules. Work out yours.
Founding agencies: the first three agencies get their first term free, their band price locked for two years, and onboarding done with us personally, in exchange for a case study, a testimonial and a monthly call in their first term. Write to us.
For scale: BitPaper charges tutors $15 a month and companies $50 plus $1 a paper and $0.20 a call hour; Lessonspace sells lesson hours from $9; Pencil Spaces meters from $6 a month for 25 user hours. All nine tools, side by side.
Do students pay?
Never. A student's sign-in is free on every plan.
What does a parent actually get?
A link of their own to the next lesson, the progress reports and the notes the tutor shares, and the term as one PDF. Here is a sample, with an invented student and tutor.
What if Writeboard closes, or something happens to the person running it?
Every account gets at least 90 days' notice by email and exports stay open to the last day; that is in the terms. Your work is backed up continuously and again nightly with a second company, and you can export any book, or your whole account, at any time on every plan.
What happens if I stop paying?
Nothing is deleted. You keep the plan to the end of the period you paid for, then the account moves to the Free plan: your two oldest students keep working, and the rest are kept read-only and exportable until you subscribe again. A failed card gets a week to be updated first.
How do I pay, and can I get a refund?
By card, PayPal, Apple Pay or Google Pay through Paddle, our merchant of record, who charge any VAT or sales tax due where you live; we never see your card. Receipts come from Paddle. Ask within 14 days of any payment and we refund it in full; after that, cancelling is free and you keep the plan to the end of what you paid for. Change card, switch monthly to yearly, or cancel from Settings. On your card statement it shows as PADDLE.NET* WRITEBOARD.
Is there a time limit on the free plan?
No. Two students, three books each, for as long as you teach them.
Where is my data?
On a server in London. Encrypted backups in the European Union, with two separate companies. No trackers, no adverts. See the privacy notice.
From the people using it
Being able to download full books, or just certain chapters, with my students is a real game-changer. They leave with comprehensive notes on everything we do together.
The homework tagging is amazing. It makes my life so easy, and it is the simplest way I have found to keep on top of every student's work between lessons.
