15 October 2026

• **The board no longer reloads when a change cannot be kept.** If the board refuses something, such as a student removing a tutor's mark, it simply takes it back and says why, without dropping the lesson.
• **Invoices is in the top bar, beside Calendar.** On Tutor Plus it holds your invoices, rates and details, which were under Settings. On Tutor it shows what last month's lessons would have come to as invoices, with the way to Tutor Plus. A team's Money is called Invoices too.
• **Drag a lesson to a new time.** In the calendar's week, a lesson follows your pointer in half hours with its new time beside it; let go and the sheet opens with the day and time filled in, so nothing moves until you say. On an iPad, hold the lesson a moment before you drag.
• **A team's Today always draws.** If one of its extras (enquiries, report rounds or last month's invoices) cannot load, that line is left off rather than the whole page saying it could not reach Writeboard.
• **Opening a tutor's book tells them.** As a team's admin, a tutor's book shows its numbers first; Open full book asks why and for a code, and the tutor hears that you opened it. It stays open for you for two hours.
• **Marking homework is optional.** Confirm on To mark says it came in and you have seen it, and takes it off the list; the student is told it was seen. Mark is there for work worth a result or a comment, and the student hears "returned with a mark" or "with a comment", never "marked" over nothing.
• **On an iPad, Home asks once how to add Writeboard to the Home Screen.** It was shown twice, once among Home's questions and again beside them.
• **Softer buttons.** Actions down a list, in a card's corner or under it are underlined words rather than grey blocks, so a list of lessons reads as a list. A button on its own, such as Add a student, keeps its box, and the icons in the top bar lose their outline.
• **Families are no longer emailed when a lesson is cancelled**, before or after it starts. The tutor and the student still see it, and on a team its admins and the student's coordinator get a notification.
• **Parents keep their link from their inbox.** Keep it a year on a parent's page now emails them a button to confirm, so a link that reached the wrong person cannot be kept by them. You can still renew any parent's link yourself.
• **Join your lesson from the calendar.** Open one of your own lessons and Join the call is there, and it is the main button from half an hour before the lesson starts.
• **Adding a lesson warns about a clash only when there is one.** A cancelled lesson, one moved to another day, or a single lesson on another week no longer reads as "already has a lesson on Fridays then".
• **Delete is back in plain sight on a lesson.** Open a lesson in Calendar and Cancel and Delete sit at the bottom of its panel, Delete in red, rather than inside Actions. A weekly lesson asks Just this one or All future scheduled.
• **One Cancel, before or after a lesson starts.** Call it off is now Cancel, and Cancelled in What happened works the same way: it asks why, everyone it affects is told once, and the notice has Undo. Did not happen has gone.
• **Done is the lesson's booked length**, wherever you answer it, with what the board saw as a note underneath. Change the length in the answer when a lesson ran long or short. Done off the board has gone: it is one Done.
• **Writeboard opens faster the first time.** A team's area, Settings, the legal pages, replays and a student's shelf now load when you open them, so the first visit downloads about a sixth less.
• **Big scans and phone photos upload as documents.** A page scanned at 600 dpi, or a photo from a newer phone, was refused as too large; it is kept at full size now, without its location and camera details.
• **More PDFs upload.** Many exam papers, worksheets and Writeboard's own book PDFs were refused as "PDFs without scripts" when nothing in them runs. They are taken now, and a PDF that hides something is still refused.
• **Deleting your account says your invoices go too**, thirty days later with everything else, so you can download any you must keep.
• **A team's data pack and Delete my account ask for a code first**, the one we email you or the one in your authenticator app, so a computer left signed in cannot do either.
• **Choose on a team's Students** sits at the end of the row, apart from the filters, so it no longer looks like one of them.
• **A person's page is calmer.** Role and Back stay at the top; View as and Offboard are under More.

• **Open student works from your own calendar.** It said you were not on a team; it now opens the student.

12 October 2026

• **Buttons say what they do in a few words.** No more "…" on buttons, and no names or numbers squeezed into them: "Invite" rather than "Invite Maya", with what is set (a purchase order, how a team pays) written beside the button instead.
• **A page's own buttons are top right.** Add a student, Add a lesson and the like now sit beside each page's title, the same on every page, instead of wherever there was room. Your own calendar has a title too.
• **Buttons look like buttons.** Every button now has a shape, an edge or a fill, so they are easy to find; the ones repeated down a list, such as Done and No-show, are quieter so a long list stays calm.
• **Every book has an owner.** On a team, a book is its tutor's, and one nobody owns says "The team". An admin, or a coordinator given "Choose who teaches", passes a book to a tutor from the book's menu, and taking a tutor off a student asks where their books go. The student keeps them either way.
• **Lend a book for a cover lesson.** "Share with a colleague" is gone. The book's tutor, or an admin, lends it to whoever is covering the student from "Lend for a cover lesson…", and it comes back when the cover ends.
• **Join goes to the right tutor.** A student with a tutor per subject joins each tutor's own call: every lesson in "Your lessons this week" has a Join, and a board joins the call of the tutor whose book it is.
• **Nothing is marked done until you say so.** A lesson the board saw now waits for your answer instead of showing as taught; when the board saw most of it, the answer starts at Done. Open a done lesson to see its note.
• **Remove, not delete.** Lessons added by mistake, or a weekly lesson that ends, are removed from Actions. On a team, "Add and remove their own lessons" is one setting for tutors.
• **Money shows board lessons nobody confirmed,** under Needs a word first, to say whether each was a lesson.
• **The lesson note is optional when you teach on your own.** The box is still there when you mark a lesson done. Switch on "A note with every lesson" in Settings to make it required. Teams start with it required.
• **The board's guide no longer hides what it points at on a phone.** When the control is near the bottom, like the page strip, the card moves to the top of the screen.
• **Delete a lesson that never happened.** A lesson added by mistake can now be deleted after its time too, as long as nothing was taught, noted, invoiced or paid on it, and a lesson you already called off can be deleted too. On a team, admins can give tutors and coordinators the power to do it.
• **A tidier lesson panel.** Open a lesson in Calendar for one main button and an Actions menu with everything else. What happened is answered in the panel itself, and Done or Cancelled and billable opens a box for the note there and then.
• **A change the board cannot keep leaves your screen too.** If the board turns read-only while you write, the writing it refused no longer stays on your screen as if it were saved: the book reloads as it really is, and says why.
• **An email when a payment fails, and when students lock.** If your renewal does not go through, you hear from us once, with the date to fix it by; if the plan then ends, you hear how many students are locked and that subscribing opens them again.
• **An accessibility statement.** writeboard.uk/accessibility says what we test, what works with a screen reader, that the board itself does not, and what a tutor can use instead. It is linked from every page's footer.
• **You are told when support looks.** If Writeboard support opens a student's pages or your account to answer a request, a line says so on your bell, and a team sees it in its activity.
• **Give a coordinator more.** A team's admins can now give coordinators more of the running of the team: every student rather than only their own, choosing who teaches, answering enquiries, inviting tutors, tutor pay, reporting rounds, the team's documents, its look and its lesson records. Set it for every coordinator under Settings, Powers, or for one on their page under People. The plan, the switches, your data and closing the team stay with the admins.
• **Reports and Settings, tidied for teams.** Reports has two tabs, Rounds for the reports to write and Figures for the numbers. A team's Settings is in areas, like your own: Plan, Look, Lessons, Powers, Switches, Your data and Close.
• **Today, for a team.** A team's Home is now Today: the day's lessons and who is teaching them, and one To do list with the button on every line: find cover, answer a lesson nobody answered, open an enquiry, assign a student with no tutor. The figures are under Reports. A coordinator gets Today too, with Money and Reports on the bar.
• **A tidier student list for teams.** Each student shows everyone on them; tap a tutor to change who teaches, or + to add one, and Choose to assign several at once. Offboard and Erase are on the student's own page. Enquiries have a tab of their own with how many are waiting.
• **Your calendar says each thing once.** The lessons under the calendar follow its student filter, and on a phone they, and a team's figures, are a list you can read without scrolling sideways.
• **Pages stay still while they load.** The calendar, a student's page and the header no longer jump as their parts arrive, so a tap lands where you aimed it.
• **A fresh code before the biggest steps.** A team's Export everything, and erasing a student, now ask for a code from your two-factor first.
• **A sign-in you stop using ends by itself.** After 7 days unused, or a day if you run a team as its admin or coordinator, you are asked to sign in again; nothing is lost. Students' own sign-ins are unchanged.
• **Money opens on the month you are checking, and answers lessons in place.** In a month's first week Money opens on last month, ready to invoice; after that on this month. A lesson nobody has answered now has Done, No-show and Other right where it is listed, so it reaches an invoice without a trip to the calendar.
• **Every team page says where you are.** A team's pages are headed with the area (Students, Money, Calendar) rather than the team's name, with that area's buttons beside the heading. A student's or a person's page is headed with their name.
• **Home keeps the week beside your students.** However few students you have, the next lesson, marking and recent lessons stay in one column on the right, and questions such as "Where did you find Writeboard?" sit under your students.

11 October 2026

• **Parent links last a year, and a wrong address can be undone.** A parent's link now works for a year; renew it from the student's Parents list, or the parent can from their own page near the end. Every email to a parent has a "Not meant for you?" link that ends theirs and tells you, and the list shows a link nobody has opened yet.
• **Nothing wobbles.** On a phone the area switchers (Settings, a student's tabs, Money) and the "students chosen" bar no longer slide up and down under your finger. On a desk a team's bar shows the same areas on every page, and the page you are on is never hidden under More.
• **Locked looks locked.** A closing team, an offboarded student and a student locked on the Free plan now show a banner with a lock and the way out, and every button that would change something is greyed and says why. A team's activity now says what happened in words for everything it records.
• **Video guides for everyone.** How it works now has a short video guide for each kind of person: tutors, teams, students, parents and learners, each as clips you can play on their own and the whole guide in one take.
• **Invite, QR and page-picking sheets work from the keyboard.** They now take focus when they open, keep Tab inside, close on Escape and put you back where you were, so a screen reader announces them.
• **Guides for teams and parents.** A team's admins, coordinators and tutors each get a short guide round the team's pages as they see them, and a parent gets one on their page.
• **Guides on your own pages.** The first time you open Home, a student, the Library, the calendar or Settings, a short guide shows you round it, one control at a time. Students get one on their shelf and on the board. Show me around, in the account menu, brings back the page's guide.
• **The board's tour is now a guide.** It shows Draw, Erase, Tools, your pins, the pages and the padlock one at a time, with Back and Next, and remembers that you have seen it on every device. Tools, Show me around brings it back, and Settings has Show every guide again.
• **Writing done offline survives a tidy-up.** If a book was tidied on the server while a device was offline, coming back used to drop the writing it had not sent yet. Now it is sent first and kept.
• **A screen that cannot load says so.** Money, reporting rounds, enquiries and Your data used to show a failed load as empty, so "no invoices" could mean the connection dropped. Now they say Writeboard could not be reached, with Try again.
• **A clearer first screen for students.** The page where a student sets up their sign-in keeps the username and password rules on screen while they type, its link to what we keep is readable, and an iPad offers to save the password.
• **Photos lose their location everywhere.** A photo added as a student's document, a shelf file or a team document now has its location and camera details removed when it is uploaded, as pictures on a board always have.

10 October 2026

• **Closing a team.** A team's admin can close it from the team's Settings. For 30 days everything is read-only and Your data still works, so everyone takes what they need; the admins hear a week before and the day before, and can reopen it at any time until then.
• **Your data, in one zip.** Settings now has Your data: tick what you want (students, books, homework, lessons, reports, money, files) and it builds one zip on your device, books as PDFs, spreadsheets for the rest and files as you uploaded them. A team's admins have it in the team's Settings.
• **Homework that gets handed in.** Students can hand in any piece, even one they did on paper. When a student has written on homework but not handed it in, To mark lists it under May be done (and the bell says so once), and you can mark it handed in for them, dated, with a note that you did.
• **Mark homework your way.** Returning homework now asks for one Result, written however you mark (7/10, 70%, B, Merit), and a comment. Ticks on the page fill it in, and a score in it still goes on the student's Progress graph.
• **A note with every lesson.** Marking a lesson Done now asks for a sentence on what you covered. It becomes the lesson's note, which goes in reports and, if you send it, to parents. It is on for everyone; a team's admins (or a tutor on their own, in Settings) can stop it insisting.
• **Lessons are never marked done for you.** The setting that completed lessons the board saw is gone: every lesson is answered by a person. The reminders to answer one stay.
• **An enquiry form for agencies.** Switch on Enquiries and your team gets a link to a short form for your website. A parent says who they are, their child's year and subjects and when they are free; it lands at the top of your Students, and one tap makes it a student with the parent as the one the bills go to. Enquiries that go nowhere are deleted after 90 days.
• **Reporting rounds, for agencies.** Open a round in Reports with a due date: each student's report is drafted that night, you can see who has finished, tutors are reminded a week before and on the day, and each family's pack (the report, the dates coming up and the term's lessons) downloads as a PDF, or every pack as one for a parents' evening. A report template can now start every report with your own opening paragraph.
• **Emailed sign-in codes can be switched off.** If you chose to have a code emailed each time you sign in, Settings, Sign-in and security can now turn it off (it emails you a code to confirm), so you can move to an authenticator app instead.
• **Writing sent together stays together.** If a board refuses one change, such as a student removing your tick, it now refuses only that change and keeps everything sent with it. Before, a student coming back online could lose the strokes sent alongside it.
• **The board tells you when a device can't keep your writing.** On a full iPad or in a private window, the board now says so once, so writing done offline is never lost without a word.
• **A student's rate on their own page.** Where invoicing is on, a student's page says what they are charged, their own rate or the standard, and you can set or remove it there as well as in Money.
• **Charge one lesson or not from the calendar.** A lesson that has happened has a choice in its panel: charge it, don't charge it or follow your rule for no-shows. Only the invoice changes; the tutor's pay does not.
• **A reminder when last month's invoices are ready.** In the first week of a month, the bell says how many invoices are ready to issue and how many lessons still need an answer, and opens Money. No email of its own.

9 October 2026

• **Invoices, if you want them.** On Tutor Plus, switch invoicing on in Settings, Invoices; on the Agency plan, a team switches on Invoices. Set each student's rate (or one standard rate), and each month Writeboard turns the lessons you answered into one invoice per person who pays, ready as a PDF to send. Mark them paid, or void one and issue it again. Agencies can also see what each tutor is owed.
• **Team and Agency are now different plans.** A team on the Team plan sees the Agency features (the student record, documents, progress reports) greyed with "On the Agency plan" rather than being able to switch them on. Connect is coming soon.
• **Choose the period once for every download.** This month, last month, this term, last term, or dates of your own: the same choice on a student's Lessons and on the team's Data, for the lessons spreadsheet, the board sessions and the new lessons PDF.
• **A lessons PDF for a student.** From their Lessons area: the lessons in the period, how long each was, what happened and who taught it, with the totals at the top, ready to send to a parent or a school.
• **The terms are easier to read.** They open with a short version, name Paddle's buyer terms for the payment itself, and end with how they change and a dated list of every change. The privacy notice has the same list.
• **The lessons spreadsheet lists your lessons as you recorded them.** Each lesson on your calendar is a row with what you said happened (Done, No-show, Cancelled, billable and so on), who taught it and the minutes it counts as, in the lesson's own time zone. It used to list board sessions in UK time; those are still there as "board sessions" if you want them. The column names changed, so check any spreadsheet built on the old file.
• **Files on a student's shelf.** On a student's page, under their books, Add a file puts a past paper, a specification or a formula sheet on their shelf. They open it from Files on their own shelf, and their parents see the same list on their page. PDFs and pictures, up to 20 MB.
• **Key notes look like notes.** A key note now copies just your writing, not the lines or grid behind it, onto a plain page titled "Key notes" with the chapter's name. Under each note, "From page 4" takes you back to where it came from. Older notes can be redrawn from the page's menu.
• **Done means done.** Marking a lesson Done no longer shows it as late because the board saw you both arrive a few minutes in; the calendar has no "late" any more. The board's times are shown beside the question as a reminder, never as the answer.
• **Add a key date from the calendar.** Beside Add a lesson, choose the student and the date: a mock, an exam, a parents' evening.
• **Saving a clip or picture of a student's work says what to check first:** no name, face or school in it, the parent's permission to share it, and that a page from an exam paper or textbook is not yours to publish.
• **Writeboard on an iPad is drawn as on a laptop.** Buttons, tabs and the top bar had all been drawn taller on a touch screen, which made every page look heavy; they are now the same size as with a mouse, and each still takes a finger's tap from a little way around it.
• **The privacy notice says where the backup is now:** in the European Union, since the move of 9 October.
• **The calendar shows each lesson's state at a glance.** Taught lessons are green, ones that did not happen red, no-shows hatched, lessons waiting for you to say what happened dashed, and called-off lessons fade back, as the key below the calendar always said.
• **Every dropdown looks like Writeboard.** The calendar's student and tutor filters, the lessons filter, long settings choices and the board's paper picker now open our own list instead of the browser's.
• **Typing on an iPad keeps your words in view.** When the keyboard comes up, the page stays big enough to read, the line you are typing sits just above the keyboard, and the text options move down beside it with a Done button. The page bar steps aside until you finish.
• **Type with a finger on an iPad.** With the text tool chosen, a tap of your finger starts a text box or opens one, even when your finger is set to move the page; dragging still moves the page.
• **The Pay button shows what you will actually pay**, in your currency and with any tax, such as "Pay £7.20 a month, tax included", so the amount matches the payment form.
• **Your plan reads the same everywhere.** Settings, the banner and the plan cards now agree on where your billing stands, so an account left in an odd state always has a way to pay, and is never told a card was declined when there is no card to update.
• **Writeboard tells you when it has been updated.** A tab left open across an update shows "A new version of Writeboard is ready" with Reload, or a small Update button on a board. It never reloads by itself in a lesson.
• **Prices in Australian and Canadian dollars.** Tutor is A$11 or C$11 a month, Tutor Plus A$19 or C$19, with round yearly prices, rather than a conversion to the cent.
• **The privacy notice names Google**, which only takes part when you choose Continue with Google or From Google Drive.
• **Lists read properly in narrow spaces.** Recent lessons and every list like it put the buttons under the words when there is no room beside them, so names are never squeezed into a column or pushed off the card.
• **No more blank pages while loading.** Every screen shows its loading shape until its content arrives.

8 October 2026

• **The page for students says more plainly what we keep.** It now says we note how long each lesson lasts (never to rank anyone), and covers questions, a book of their own and the dates a parent's link shows.
• **Updates no longer interrupt a lesson.** When Writeboard updates, the board says "Updating" for a few seconds and carries on by itself, with nothing lost and the lesson still the same lesson.
• **Nobody is put on a team without saying yes.** When a team's admin adds you, you get an invitation by email and on your Home, with Join and No thanks.
• **Progress for students.** A new Progress area on a student's shelf shows how they are getting better in numbers, what they have covered, their best week and what their tutor said about their work. Handing work in now says well done, once. No streaks, points or league tables.
• **Messages on a student's shelf show again.** Confirmations such as "Over to you" after Try again were not appearing.
• **"I'm stuck here."** A student can box some working on any page and ask their tutor about it. The tutor is told where, opens the question from the bell, and answers in a line or on the page; the student is told when it is answered.
• **The bell's Open on a hand-in opens the work again.** It had stopped opening the book at all.
• **Adding a page always works.** In a few books, filing pages into a chapter could leave two pages sharing one place, and adding a page between them then failed. New pages now always get a place of their own.
• **The axes tool no longer freezes the board.** A drag that started dead level or dead upright could lock up the page; it now draws straight away, with a sensible number of ticks however thin the box.
• **Clearer sign-in.** Messages at sign-in are in plain words with what to do next, and if our sign-in service is briefly out of reach you're told your details are fine. "Where you're signed in" in Settings lists only devices that are still signed in.
• **A book of their own.** A student can start one book that is theirs: their notes, their revision, arranged how they like. Their tutor can read it, and writes in it only if the student invites them in.
• **A home for students.** A student's My work now opens with Today: homework due this week, the newest marks and the book from their last lesson. Their books are grouped by subject, each with a line saying how many pages they wrote this week, when it was last marked and what homework is open.
• **Text keeps its own colour.** A colour picked for words no longer changes the pen or the shapes, and the next box you type starts in the colour you last chose for text. White is gone from the text colours, since white words vanish on paper.
• **The payment form speaks your language.** Card fields, buttons and any message from your bank now appear in your own language at checkout.
• **Free time is never lost by subscribing early.** If you have free days left when you subscribe, they're added on: you pay today and your next payment moves back by the days you had left.
• **Help when a payment gets stuck.** Our payment page now notes how far a payment got (never your card details), so if something goes wrong we can see where and help the same day. The privacy notice says so; the record is kept for 90 days.

8 October 2026

• **Review homework**: To mark opens the work with the student's new writing in full and everything from before faded, page by page (N and P to step through). The homework bar has Review changes too.
• **Try again**: homework returned with a cross can be put right and handed in again. The first mark is kept, and the second says how many were corrected.
• **Nudge** a student about homework that is not in, from the homework on their page as well as from Notifications.
• **Drag a lesson to another day** on the calendar. The lesson opens on the day you dropped it, and nothing moves until you say so.
• **Lessons for students abroad**: a lesson can keep the student's own time zone, so it stays at their hour when the clocks change.
• **Your own time zone, always**: if you teach from abroad, the calendar shows every lesson at the hour it is where you are, and says so.
• **Who is here shows who has gone quiet**: anybody who hasn't moved on the board for five minutes is marked idle.
• **What happened…** on the board's end-of-lesson strip answers a timetabled lesson there and then, with the same form as the calendar.

7 October 2026

• **Adding a lesson**: pick several days at once (Monday and Thursday makes two weekly lessons), and the sheet tells you the first lesson of each before you save. The length and the start times are labelled rows.
• **Moving a weekly lesson** asks: just this one, or this and every one after. Earlier weeks stay as they were.
• **Delete** a lesson added by mistake, before it happens: nobody is told and no reason is asked. "This and every one after" stops a weekly lesson, for when a student stops coming. A lesson that has happened is still called off, with its reason.
• Homework due tomorrow says **due tomorrow** all day; in the morning it had shown the date instead.
• **Dialogs are tidier**: boxes fill the dialog's width, hints are no longer cut off mid-word, the highlight round the box you are typing in is never clipped, and nothing scrolls sideways. In the invite, the email box has a full line of its own.
• A student's page heads every part the same way: Homework, Books and getting them in now have proper headings, where some were small labels.
• **The legal pages** (Privacy, Terms, Report a problem and the students' page) put their title and a list of their sections on the left, so you can jump to the part you want; on a phone the list comes first.
• **On an iPad**, Home now suggests putting Writeboard on your Home Screen, where it opens full screen with the whole iPad for the board. It asks once you have a student, and Not now or I've added it puts it away.
• **Lists look the same everywhere**: the team's students and people, the places waiting to be taken, cover going spare, a student's week and a parent's reports and notes are one line each with a rule between, instead of a mix of cards, boxes and bullets.
• **Paying is safer and clearer.** A card your bank turns down at checkout no longer marks your account as unpaid or puts a warning on every page; just choose your plan again and pay another way. After paying, Settings keeps checking until your plan is on, and Billing appears once you have a subscription. Prices at checkout are now shown in your own currency.
• **The payment page explains itself.** If your bank declines a card, it says nothing was charged and suggests another card, PayPal or Google Pay. An old payment link that has closed or been paid now says so and takes you back to your plan, instead of loading for ever.
• **Clearer billing messages.** If a renewal fails, the banner says by when to update your card, that nothing you've made is deleted, and has an Update card button. Billing messages in Settings say what to do next. If you close your account, signing in again tells you it can still be restored for 30 days and how.
• **Progress has graphs.** A student's Progress (or Lessons, where reports are off) opens on This term: their lessons a week, their homework a week (on time, late, not in) and their marks as a line once four pieces are marked. Choose 30 or 90 days, 12 months or all time, and each figure says how it compares with the stretch before.
• **A team's Reports** works the same way: one range at the top, the team's lessons and homework a week, lessons and homework by tutor, then the students and tutors in tables, with the CSV and PDF as before.
• A team's Home, a tutor's page, a student's own shelf and a parent's page take the same shape: the main things on the left, the week on the right.
• **A student is one page.** Their homework and books on the left; the card, the last lesson, how they sign in and your notes on the right; and Record, Progress, Lessons and Calendar along the top. There is no separate Profile any more.
• **Home** puts your students on the left and the week on the right: the next lesson, homework to mark, what is coming up and recent lessons. With three students or fewer, the week sits under them instead.
• Pages use more of a wide screen: up to 1280 across, where they stopped at 1040. Hints and notes keep a comfortable line length.
• **Connect**, under More on an Agency team, opens the team's Settings at Connect, where it had opened an empty page.

Homework comes back marked

• When a student writes on a homework page, the homework shows as **Started** ("1 of 2 parts started" for homework in parts). Only the student's own writing counts.
• When it looks finished, the board's homework bar and the student's shelf say **Looks done. Hand it in**.
• Home has a **To mark** list: work handed in and not yet returned, oldest first. **Mark…** (or **Mark and return…** on the board) takes a mark out of a total, a grade (A* to U, 9 to 1, or your own) or a comment, and **Return** sends it back. The student sees **Returned** with the grade and the mark.
• The bell's hand-in notice opens the work itself.
• Homework is set from the board's homework panel; **Set homework…** on a book's menu opens it there.

Also today

• An exported PDF's cover names the student, "with" you, the days its pages cover and how many chapters and pages are inside.
• Adding a student offers **Invite now** straight away.
• Time zones are picked from a list: yours in **Settings → Profile**, and a team's in its settings.
• The calendar's lesson states are easy to tell apart, and a no-show is hatched.
• **Follow my other devices** no longer swaps places when one of your devices reconnects.
• Old lesson replays stay whole after a quiet book is tidied overnight.
• Team reports download as a file on the iPad instead of opening in the browser.
• **Check spelling as you type** is a switch in **Settings → Board**, on to start.
• A chosen text box's frame stands clear of its words, so the corner handle no longer covers the last letter. The menu beside it sits clear of the corner too, and the corner grabs where its dot is drawn.

Key dates

• Add a student's mocks, exams and deadlines as key dates: **Add a date** on their card, or **Add a date for Maya…** from the lesson chip on the board.
• They show on the student's card under **Coming up**, on Home (the next fortnight across your students), on the calendar (the **Key dates** chip), on the student's shelf and on the parent's page.
• A date is shared with the student and their parents unless you choose **Only the tutors**. The note on a date is for tutors only.
• Mid-lesson, the lesson chip lists the student's dates this week.

Students, Settings and Home

• Each student's page has a card: what needs attention, the next lesson with Join and the book, who teaches them, and the last lesson.
• Settings is in six areas: **Plan**, **Profile**, **Sign-in and security**, **Notifications**, **Board** and **Bin**. Your meeting link is in Profile.
• **Cmd+K** finds a student, a book or homework from any page.
• Deleting books or a page, or clearing a page, happens at once, with **Undo** on the notice, instead of asking first.
• Home shows your students first; recent lessons and the questions sit below them.
• Pages no longer flash another page or jump about as they load.

On the board

• The **Tools** sheet is a simple list, and each on/off tool shows a switch.
• A new chapter, and **Today's lesson**, goes after your last chapter on a fresh page. A PDF imported onto an empty page fills that page.
• **Follow my other devices** is one setting for all your boards, in **Settings → Board**.
• Text: a tap chooses finished text, the box you are typing in has a size corner, and new text on blank paper starts at L (24pt).
• The dots on the page strip showing where everyone is keep up.

Try it without signing up

• **writeboard.uk/try** opens a real board with a worksheet on it, no account needed. It stays in your browser, and **Start free to keep it** brings it into your new account.

On the board

• The board says when your work is saved, and offline it offers **Retry**.
• Every keyboard shortcut is listed on one sheet; **Cmd+A** chooses everything on the page and **Escape** lets go.
• Hold Space and drag to move round the page; a flick glides to a stop.
• **Correction** styles text red, in handwriting, for comments on work. Text has four named sizes (S, M, L, XL), a list carries on with Shift+Enter, and a block duplicates just below itself.
• Dragging a student card, a page or a chip on the bar lifts it, so you can see where it will land.

Teams and safety

• A team can let its coordinators open students' work with one switch, set by the team's admins and off to start.
• Changing your password or two-factor signs out your other devices, and stopping a student's sign-in link signs out the devices that used it.
• Nobody can lock a student out of signing in by typing their name wrong.

3 October 2026

• Signing out on a shared iPad also forgets the last person's sign-in.
• You can change your password in **Settings** while signed in.
• The Learner plan's price includes VAT: £4 a month or £36 a year.
• A parent who switches off an email still sees everything on their page.
• The daily email no longer repeats what you have already seen.
• A student cannot remove your ticks and crosses.
• Text: dragging a chosen text block's corner steps through the sizes, and the caret lands where you tap.

Choosing a plan is quicker

• **Settings → Plan** shows every plan side by side with its price, what it gives and one button, and how full your current plan is as a bar.
• Tapping a plan on the pricing page takes you straight to paying for it, even if you were already signed in, and opens on the monthly price you tapped.
• The link in the confirmation email signs you in, on whichever device you open it.
• After paying, Settings says the payment arrived and switches your plan on by itself.
• **Settings → Account → Emails from Oliver**: the occasional email from the person who built Writeboard can be switched off there, or with the link in any of them. Every email from Writeboard now has the same look.

Paid plans are open

• You can now subscribe from **Settings → Plan**: Tutor at £6 a month or £60 a year, Tutor Plus at £10 a month or £96 a year, before tax. Paddle takes the payment and sends the receipt; on your bank statement it shows as PADDLE.NET* WRITEBOARD.
• Settings opens on your plan now, and the rest is in areas: Board, Teaching, Account and Bin.
• When a plan ends, your account moves to the Free plan: your two oldest students keep working, the rest are kept safe and readable until you subscribe again. Nothing is deleted.
• When a lesson ends, your board offers a note on it and its real length, for ten minutes, instead of you having to find it later on Home.
• A progress report now says which lessons were called off, what you covered in each lesson (from your notes), each piece of homework and how grades moved.

Students get their own way in

• Students now sign in at **writeboard.uk/student**. Every invite message points there, and it's a screen with no way to make an account on it, so a student can no longer end up with a tutor account by mistake.
• A student who is signed in keeps their pen when they open an old lesson link or view link to their own board. Before, the link won and they could only watch their own lesson.
• A student already signed in who opens writeboard.uk goes straight to their shelf.
• Your student's menu now has **Sign-in link**: a link or QR code that signs them in on a new device without typing, for a year. The menu shows when it was last used, and a new link stops the old one. On a team, the admin decides whether tutors can use them.
• When a board won't take writing, it now says why: the lesson hasn't started, it's a view-only or parent link, or the plan needs attention.
• **Re-issue** sits on the student's sign-in row instead of behind the "…".

Cover lasts as long as the lesson it covered

• Standing in for one lesson used to hand you that student for good. It now reaches them until the end of the day you covered, which is the evening you write the lesson up in, and then it lets go. Nothing you wrote goes anywhere; you simply stop being on their list.
• Only a tutor or an admin can be put on a lesson. A coordinator runs students and never teaches them, so the timetable, the cover queue and the offer list now say so instead of quietly making a row that did nothing while the roster counted them as the tutor.
• Offboarding somebody keeps the kind of each student it hands on: a coordinator's client goes to another coordinator and stays a client, a tutor's student goes to a tutor. If a student cannot be handed to the person chosen, it says so before it moves anybody, rather than half way through.
• Closing your account now gives back your seat and takes you off your students, and your team is told in its trail so somebody can pick them up. You used to leave a row nobody could remove.

A board that went quiet comes back on its own

• A long stretch offline, or a page duplicated while the connection was away, could leave a board that never caught up: the queued work was sent as one piece, refused as one piece, and sent again the same way. It now goes in pieces the server takes, and a single stroke too large to store is dropped by name with a message, while the rest carries on.
• An iPad that cannot save to its own storage now says so once, and keeps asking the server for what it missed rather than pretending it was saved.
• After a release, every open board reconnects; the sixty-first used to be told to wait and gave up. Each person now has their own allowance.
• The app updates itself after a release instead of running the old version until every tab is closed, and a page caught during a deploy no longer becomes the offline copy.

Play back any page

• On the Tutor plan, a page's menu now has Play back this page: the page draws itself again from its first stroke to its last, across every sitting, in the same viewer a lesson replay uses. Long pauses are shortened and the line under the title says how many sittings and how many minutes of writing, so a page worked on over a fortnight never passes for twenty minutes.
• Nothing new is recorded: it plays what is already there. A team turns it on with the Lesson replay switch; a solo tutor's own replay decision in Settings covers it. A coordinator, a student and a parent's link never see one.
• Your marks on a page are a way into its playback, placed on the page's own clock.
• Cut a clip from any playback: set an in and an out point, draw a box on the page, pick square or portrait for a post or the page as drawn, fit it to 15, 30 or 60 seconds, and make a film or a still. It is made on your own computer and nothing is uploaded. Your logo goes in the corner where you have set one; otherwise ours does, which a paid plan can switch off.
• Clips never cut off your work. Asking for square or portrait used to trim the page to fit the shape; now it takes in more of the page around what you chose, and where the page runs out it puts a quiet border rather than losing anything. With no box drawn you choose whether the frame holds the work or the whole page.
• Films come in two sizes: Standard, the 1080 that Instagram and TikTok use, and High at 1440 for a big screen. A still is always made at the higher size.
• A film of a lesson now turns the pages as the lesson did. It used to stay on one page, so anything drawn after a page turn never appeared.
• You can see what a clip will look like before you make it. A small preview sits beside the controls and is drawn the same way the finished film is.
• The page menu now says **Replay this page**, and while you are watching one, the strip underneath offers every other page of the book, so you can move through it without going back.
• Plainer words on the clip controls: Start here and End here rather than in and out points, Close in or Whole page, Film or Picture.

Writeboard is now run by Writeboard Ltd

• The company took over from Oliver Woodcock as a sole trader on 17 September 2026. Same person, same server, same rules: the privacy notice and the terms now name the company, and the footer carries its number and registered office as the law asks.
• When paid plans reopen, payment will be taken by Paddle rather than Stripe. Paddle is the seller on the receipt and charges the right tax wherever you live, so a tutor abroad pays the same way as one in the UK.
• The 14-day refund is written into the terms as the consumer right it is, and extended to every customer on every payment.

Coordinators run their own clients

• A coordinator used to watch the whole team and change nothing. Now an agency can put a coordinator **on** a student, and for that student they do everything: the record, the file, who teaches them, the timetable, the reports, the ledger.
• For everybody else's students they see exactly what they saw before: counts, names, that the work happened.
• What has not changed, on anybody's student: a coordinator never opens a book, a page, a replay or a tutor's own note.

Adding a lesson stopped asking you to type

• The student comes from a list of the team's students. Before, the list was built from lessons already on the calendar, so a student with no lesson yet could not be scheduled at all.
• The tutor comes from a list of the team's people, including "nobody yet", which puts the lesson straight into the cover queue.
• The day, the length and how often are all picked. A lesson can now happen **just once** rather than every week forever.
• If the tutor or the student already has a lesson at that time, or the first one falls in a holiday, it says so and asks before saving. It never refuses: agencies double-book and teach through half term on purpose.
• **The student is told a lesson has been arranged.** They were told about cancellations, moves and cover, and never about the lesson itself.

The calendar, rebuilt

• **Three views.** The month is how an agency thinks about a term, the week is a real time grid where an hour looks like an hour and two lessons at four o'clock sit side by side, and the day is a list, which is the only shape that works on a phone.
• **You can see what happened.** A lesson that was taught turns green with a tick, one that started more than ten minutes late turns amber, one that never happened turns red, and a lesson waiting for a tutor keeps the strong red that means act now. Every state carries a mark as well as a colour, and a key under the grid says what each one means.
• **Picking a lesson opens a panel beside the calendar**, not a dialog over it, so the rest of the day stays on screen while you move or cancel it.
• **A lesson can be added from the calendar.** Before, you had to go and find the student first.
• **Keys**: left and right move a week or a month, T is today, and M, W and D are the three views.

Dates and times are ours now

• Type a date the way you say one: 22/9, 22 Sep, or the full thing. The field says back what it understood, or tells you it is not a date. Same for times: 4pm, 16:00 and 1600 all work. The browser's own grey date box, with its dd/mm/yyyy and its blue calendar, is gone from every screen.

One navigation, and it knows who you are

• **A place, then what is in it.** The bar across the top now names where you are looking, and the destinations beside it belong to that place. Your own teaching, each team you are on and the Console are all places; switching between them is one control. Somebody with one place never sees it.
• **Four things that were wrong are fixed.** Somebody keeping their own notes was shown Students first, when their plan allows none at all. A coordinator was offered three destinations that were empty for them. Being on two teams grew a third row of navigation. And a student's app had no navigation at all, which stopped being fine when reports arrived on it.
• **Projects is now Library**, which is what it was always called everywhere else.
• **Lessons folds into the Calendar.** A calendar looking backwards is the lesson history, so it is one destination rather than two.
• **Nothing pops in.** The place you are in is remembered between loads, so the bar is whole at first paint rather than filling itself a moment later.
• **Suggestion lists are no longer cut off.** The list under a field like Subjects capped itself at a height that always clipped the last two results, and it covered the fields underneath. Every floating thing in the product now uses one primitive that measures the room it has.

The team calendar: who teaches whom, and when (Part 2)

• **A weekly lesson** on a student: a day, a time, a length and a tutor, from a date and optionally until one. Setting one up puts the tutor on the student, so nobody is ever scheduled to teach a child they cannot open.
• **The team's week**, a column per day, with everything anybody is teaching. A tutor sees their own, a coordinator sees who and when and never the book, an admin sees the lot.
• **Four o'clock stays four o'clock.** Lessons are stored as a clock time in the team's own time zone, so the clocks going back in October does not move anybody's lesson by an hour, and changing the team's zone keeps the hour.
• **Term dates.** Type in half term and Christmas once and the calendar empties itself for everybody, so nobody cancels twelve lessons by hand in December. A tutor who teaches through a holiday can say so.
• **Moving and cancelling one date** without touching the weeks around it. A cancellation needs a reason, and everyone it affects is told once, with it.
• **Cover, in the product instead of on the phone.** A tutor who cannot make a lesson says so with a reason; it appears in the admin's queue within the second, with the time left before it starts; one tap hands it to somebody else, who gets the student with it and is told. The parent hears once, from whichever happened.
• **The next lesson arms itself.** Ten minutes before, the tutor's shelf turns into one button that starts the lesson, and the joining link closes itself a quarter of an hour after the lesson ends. The team's plan pays for that, not the tutor's own, so an agency's tutors never need a second subscription.
• **The parent's link can show the next lesson**, and does not unless the team switches it on. The link needs no password and forwards freely, so naming a child's Tuesday is the agency's decision to make.

The team hub: the student record, reports and paperwork (Part 1)

• **The student record.** Schools (several, because children move), subjects with their exam board, tier, target and current grade and exam date, plus year group, date of birth and where the enquiry came from. A tutor teaching the child sees what is being taught and where; an admin also sees the date of birth and the referral; a coordinator sees the subjects and the year and never the schools. Adding a subject fills in the shelf's labels, so nobody types the same word twice.
• **Progress reports.** Drafted overnight from the lessons that actually happened, the homework set and returned and the targets on the record, so a tutor finishes one in two minutes instead of starting from an empty form. A draft has no author until a person adds a sentence of their own; a finished report never changes again; sharing it with the parent is a separate act. Exported as a PDF in the team's own branding, and shown on the parent's view-only link only when deliberately shared.
• **A student's file.** School reports, mock results, consent forms. One access rule each (admins, everyone teaching them, or named people), files served as downloads that cannot run in the page, and PDFs carrying scripts refused outright. A kind the agency keeps to itself does not give its title away to anyone below admin.
• **Results as numbers**, so three mocks make a line a parent can read. A mark is refused without what it was out of.
• **The team's own documents**: templates, policies and handbooks on a shelf the whole team can reach. A policy pins itself and tells everybody, keeps its old versions, and an admin can see who has opened it. A template can set the headings your reports ask for.
• **Two team plans.** Team is the whiteboard and the roster; Agency adds the record, the paperwork and the reporting, at £79, £189 and £379 on the same student bands. A team moving down keeps every row.
• The student page divides into areas (Overview, Record, Progress, Lessons) so a phone no longer stacks nine sections.

Fixed

• The Monday founder email reports the seven full days before it goes; it used to include the send morning and drop the previous Monday afternoon.
• A report's period counts both bounds, so homework set in the same millisecond a draft was written no longer vanishes from it.
• Two walkthrough scenes repaired: the invite is one sheet now, and Export moved to the header.
• Brand kit (`npm run brand`): profile pictures, wordmarks, lockups and end cards rendered from the favicon and the site's display font into `public/brand/`, served at `/brand/`.
• Social cuts (`npm run social`): eight portrait posts and an Instagram carousel composed from the walkthrough film by its scene marks, with a test that keeps the posts inside the film. Plan and inventory in `docs/marketing/SOCIAL-PLAN.md`.
• Filmed journeys (`npm run journeys`): one asserted recording per kind of account (tutor, student, viewer, team, founder), sign-in first, a red card in the footage where a step fails. `docs/08-testing-strategy.md` 6b.
• The Monday founder email reports the seven full days before it goes; it used to include the send morning and drop the previous Monday afternoon.

10 September 2026

• A team's Reports now sit inside the team page, under the same Home, People, Students control as everything else, instead of opening a separate page. The old address still lands you there, and the weekly email's "week in review" link with it.

9 September 2026

• Paid plans are closed for the moment while we finish our payment setup, so that tax is handled properly wherever in the world you teach. Nobody is turned away: ask from Settings, or from the message you meet when the Free plan runs out, and we turn full access on by hand, at no charge, usually the same day. Nothing you have made is affected and the prices are unchanged.
• The console has a Review: what moved rather than what exists. How far each week's signups got (made a student, wrote, invited, their student joined, set homework, came back, paid), the last thirty days as bars, whether each week's cohort returned in the weeks after, the money, where people heard of us and what is broken. Downloads as a spreadsheet. The founder gets the same six lines by email on Monday mornings.
• Inviting a student is one button. Invite Sam mints the invite and opens a sheet with everything needed to hand it over: a QR and a six-letter code for a student in the room, the link and a ready-made message for one who is not, and a box to email it, again or to a corrected address. The student page's read-only link is now called the parent view link, which is what it is for. Full-access and per-book links have left the student page.
• The board tells you when the student cannot see it yet. From the first stroke a chip beside the people chip says so and invites them from right there, then waits with the code until they are in.
• Lesson links, on the Tutor plan: from the board's People menu, start a link that lets anyone who has it write in this book for an hour, two, or until you stop it. No sign-in, so paid plans only: a door into a student's work that skips the sign-in is for tutors we can stand behind. On Free the menu says so and points at the plans.
• The board's menus are grouped by what they are about. Tools is now Insert. View holds only how the page looks and is seen. Everything about the other person in the lesson, the magnet, follow my other device, homework and the links, sits with the people chip at the top right.
• Adding a third student on Free now says the plan is full and offers the plans. It used to do nothing at all.
• Feedback has a fourth kind: request a feature.

8 September 2026

• A PDF's photographs arrive with it. Exam papers store their pictures in a format the importer could not decode, so a cable car came through as its labels and lines with a hole where the photo was. Every page now imports whole, and papers with unusual fonts or non-Latin text render as their author saw them.
• The page strip holds every page of the book and scrolls, with the page you are on kept in view. It used to show seven around the current page and leave the rest a chevron away.
• The strip shows who is on which page. Each person's page is outlined in their colour with their initial at the corner, named when you hover, and the mark leaves when they do. The colour is theirs on the page too, so the cursor and the mark match.
• Follow my other device. When you have Writeboard open on a second device of your own, the View menu offers Follow: this screen goes where that one goes, page and zoom alike, until you turn it off. Nobody else on the board can see or follow it.
• Reordering pages is now a deliberate act. The strip only scrolls and taps; in the all-pages drawer a Reorder button puts a handle on every page and arrows beneath it, and Done ends it. A stray pen drag on the strip can no longer move a page mid-lesson. Tutors only.
• Undo in the two-page view leaves the pages where they are. Undoing a stroke on the right-hand page used to slide both pages across, or collapse to one at the end of the book.
• Picking pages for homework works the way the PDF importer does: click one, shift-click for a run, or drag across the grid to paint them in or out.
• The header's Scratchpad, feedback and bell buttons are the same size and all large enough for a finger on touch.
• A save the server could not store for a moment is retried rather than dropped, and the server no longer disconnects everyone when it happens. Twice in two days a board briefly lost its connection for this reason.

7 September 2026

• The team's Students and People areas are rosters of cards rather than tables: each student with the flag in words, their tutors and the actions at the end, cut by Everyone, Needs attention, Unstaffed or By name; each person with their role, students and when they joined. Assign edits the whole set of tutors in one go.
• Each of the team's people has a page: their students on the team, the lessons they taught them, the books they made and their trail, with the role changed or a student put on them from there. A tutor's own private students, books and notes never appear on it.
• Billing, Look and Connect are one Settings area of cards, with the exports in a Data card of their own.
• Adding someone to a team who has no account yet keeps them a place instead of refusing: they join the moment they sign up, and they can sign up without a beta code. The same is true whether you add one person or import a list. A kept place shows under People with Resend and Remove.
• A team lands on Home: six figures, what needs doing with the action beside each line, and this week's activity. Putting a tutor on a student, or taking one off, is answered with a message you can undo.
• Your notes on a student are yours alone, on your own students and on a team's. A colleague on the same student keeps separate notes and never sees yours; a team admin the same. Your notes travel in your own data export, never the team's. Notes you wrote before this change moved with you.
• People who help run a team now hear from it without logging in: a weekly highlights email (lessons taught, homework moved, who needs chasing by name, anything that left the building) on the morning they choose in Settings, Friday evening, Saturday midday or Monday morning. A quiet week sends silence, never "nothing happened", every email carries a one-click stop link, and the overview page opens with the same week in review in full. Anyone on a team without a display name is now asked to set one right there.
• One word per measure: "Lessons" now always means a recorded lesson, a tutor and the student on a board together. The term report, its CSV and the parent PDF all switch to the recorded figures; the old writing-activity count is renamed "Sessions", kept quietly beside them for history, and retires once lesson records cover a full term. The students table saying none while the report said eleven was two measurements wearing one name.
• A student's page now keeps who to ring: parents, guardians, school contacts, with a number, an email and a note, edited right there. Contacts are for the people who teach the student, never for a coordinator, they leave in the data exports, and erasing a student erases them too. The same page now shows the student's own sign-in and reset email, and quietly adds what their books study that their own subjects line does not say.
• The term report downloads as a PDF a parent or a school can keep: one page per student with their subjects, the six figures for the stretch and who taught them, and a closing page adding the tutors up. The CSV stays for spreadsheets, and the report's columns now carry each student's subjects, level and exam board.
• Every tutor can download one student's lesson ledger as a CSV from their profile page, the same file a team downloads for all of theirs: dates, UK start and end times, minutes, book and who was there. Coordinators are refused it on purpose; durations against a named child are not oversight.
• The CSV files got three quiet fixes: times are UK wall clock rather than an hour off all summer, names with accents open correctly in Excel, and a student named like a spreadsheet formula lands as text instead of running. Every ledger and report download is now written to the team's activity trail, and the column layout is a written contract our own build enforces.

6 September 2026

• A student's page is a mark book now: who they are and what needs chasing at the top, six figures on one card (lessons, time taught, handed in, on time, overdue, marks) each saying which stretch it covers, then who teaches them and their lessons beside the homework, then their books and the next-lesson goal. Nothing is red unless something is wrong, and every warning is words as well as colour.
• A student's buttons went from seven to three: Profile, Details (name, section, subjects, level and board in one form) and Manage (team, archive, and delete kept last and apart).
• A team's student list puts the students who need chasing first and says why on the row: overdue homework, or no activity for three weeks. The team overview's totals are the same tiles as a student's page, and the term report waits until you pick a stretch. Tutors are shown by name everywhere; one without a name shows as a hidden address you click to reveal, on the overview as on the hub.
• The quiet grey used for small print was a shade too light to meet the accessibility standard on the page background; it is darker now, and the build refuses any ink that fails the check. A dark accent colour picked in Settings now gets white text on its buttons, and dialogs take the accent too; they used to stay yellow.
• On a phone, every tutor page used to be wider than the screen. The header wraps now and nothing scrolls sideways.

5 September 2026

• Teams are now priced the way tutoring earns: by the students being taught, in three bands (£39 to 40 students, £89 to 120, £179 to 300), with tutors and coordinators never counted and never charged. Bring every part-timer; people are never the bill.
• The lesson call has a home. Paste your usual meeting room (Zoom, Meet, Teams...) once in Settings, or a per-student link on their page, and a Join button appears for you and the student: on their page, on their shelf, and in the board's bar mid-lesson. Only real https links are stored, and a link to a service we do not recognise shows its domain on the button, so nobody taps blind.
• The graph plotter grew a panel: see the curve before it lands, with sliders for the x and y windows, then one click puts it on the page exactly as previewed. Auto-fit stays the default; the sliders are for when the heuristic frames it wrong.

2 September 2026

• A team role that needs two-factor is paused, not kept, while the factor is off: it grants nothing and lists nothing until the factor is back, then returns by itself. Before, the rule was only checked when the role was handed out.
• Locked out with no phone and no codes? We can now reset your two-factor from our side. You get an email saying it happened, and you sign in with just your password until you switch it back on.
• Two-factor now comes with ten recovery codes, shown once when you switch it on. Each one signs you in a single time if you cannot reach your phone or your inbox, and using one emails you to say so. Losing a phone is no longer losing an account.
• Two-factor by email can now be switched off. It could be switched on and never off, because turning it off asked for a code from an authenticator app that an emailed factor cannot produce.
• Sign-in was refusing every account with "verify your email first". A hardening change on 31 August started reading a claim that Supabase keeps somewhere else, so the server asked a question no token answered. Fixed, and the check is now covered by tests that use the real shape.
• On the Free plan, students join by invite and choose their own username and password. Writable share links, the kind anyone holding the URL can write on with no sign-in, are on the paid plans. Read-only links are unchanged everywhere, and a link already switched on can always be switched off.
• Plans are simpler and the numbers moved. Free holds two students with three books each. The Tutor plan holds twenty students at a time and twenty books each, and £60 a year is now shown as what it is, £5 a month. Archiving a student you have finished with frees the place and keeps every page of theirs, and the message you get at the limit says so.
• A team is £30 a month including five seats, then £8 for each seat after that. One rate, no bands: your twenty-first tutor costs £8 like every other one. (Superseded on 3 September 2026: teams are now priced by students, in bands.)

1 September 2026

• Two-factor no longer needs an authenticator app: choose a six-digit code emailed to you instead, and signing in asks for it.
• Writeboard's ICO registration number is on the privacy notice.
• Every stroke that changes a page is checked against the same permission as the shelf, not just the moment the board was opened. A tutor whose access is taken away mid-lesson cannot land one more mark on the way out.
• Taking a student back out of a team returns them whole: every book comes with them, including one a colleague made while the team shared them, and the old tutors' access ends.
• Taking a tutor off a student, or off the team, now ends any lesson they have open rather than waiting for them to reload.
• A coordinator sees that homework was set, when it is due and whether it came in, and no longer sees what it says.
• Security: a tutor sharing a student could open a colleague's book over the live connection, even though the shelf refused them. That is closed, and the same check now guards both.
• Security: a team admin could take any student in the system into their team. A student is handed over by whoever teaches them, never taken.
• Security: closing your own account no longer deletes students a team owns, and is refused outright while you run one.
• Erasing a student now clears their name and homework from notifications too, not just their books and pages.
• The sign-in page asks who you are first: a clear Tutor or Student choice at the top, instead of a small link under everything else.
• A link with ?signin=1 opens the sign-in page for somebody signed out. It used to show the marketing page and leave them stranded.
• The team report is measured in half terms, terms and years rather than day counts, shows each student's tutors beside their name, and has a "Needs attention" filter for missed homework, work handed in and never marked, and anybody not seen for a fortnight.
• Set a team up from a spreadsheet: paste a list of people or students, see exactly what it will do, then apply it. One bad line stops the whole file and names the line.
• People who have no Writeboard account yet can be added anyway. They join the team the moment they sign up.
• A term's report per student and per tutor: lessons, time on the board, homework set and handed in, how much arrived on time, and marks. Downloadable as a spreadsheet.
• A team can export everything it holds as one file, and an admin can erase a student for good on request, by typing their name.
• A team can see what it costs: students, the price of each band, the smallest bill, and how much of the pooled storage it is using. Coordinators are free.
• An admin chooses to pay by invoice or by card, and can put a purchase order number on it.
• Running a team needs two-factor sign-in. Admins and coordinators can see a whole agency's business, so the role cannot be given to somebody without it; tutors are unaffected.
• Tables line their figures up under the right headings, everywhere in the app. They were laid out a row at a time, so each row decided its own column widths.
• Students owned by a team wear the team's name on their card, and the shelf can be narrowed to one team.
• Being put on a student tells the tutor, so a new student does not just appear.
• A student can be given to a team, or taken back out, from their own page.
• On a student a team shares, each book says whose it is, and its own tutor can hand it to a colleague from the book's menu.
• A Team tab for anyone in one: who is on it, which tutors teach which students, and what has been done lately.
• Admins add people, put tutors on students, and offboard a leaver one student at a time, choosing who takes each and whether the leaver's books go with them.
• Coordinators land on a view of how the work is going across every student, with counts and dates and no way into anybody's pages.
• The axes and number line draw cleanly again: the ticks were coming out as a sawtooth because the pen travelled diagonally between them.
• Plotted curves fill their box. The height used to follow the width, so anything steep (y = x squared over -5 to 5) left almost all of the curve outside the box and looked broken.
• Organisations, for agencies: an agency owns its students, admins put tutors on them, and a coordinator can see that lessons and homework happened without opening anyone's work.
• Several tutors can share a student. Each tutor's books are their own: the other tutor sees the student, never the pages. The student sees all of their own books, whoever set them.
• A tutor can hand one book to a colleague, and take it back.
• Offboarding: when a tutor leaves, an admin chooses for each student who takes them on and whether the leaver's books go too. Everything is on the organisation's record, which its own people can read.
• Drag students into the order you want them, and drop one on a section heading to file it there.
• Tag students with anything you like ("GCSE", "Tuesday", "Year 11") and filter the shelf by tag. Books and students share one vocabulary.
• Cmd+K (Ctrl+K) opens one box that finds a student, a book or a piece of homework by name from anywhere on the shelf.
• Anything drawn can be resized: select ink, a shape, a maths stamp or a mark and drag a corner handle. Line weight stays put, so a shrunk graph does not turn into a thick scribble.
• The axes and number line look right: ticks cross the line evenly and the arrowheads are slim darts rather than wide Vs.
• The plotter draws its curve live while you size the box, so you can see the shape you are placing before you let go.

• The maths stamps draw crisply now: dense sampling stops the curve fill bending ticks into loops or bowing the circle's diameters.
• The page-or-chapter box no longer cuts its label off, and undo, redo and their drag grip are one connected control.
• Maths stamps in the Shapes menu: drag out x-y axes with ticks and arrowheads, a number line or a unit circle. Each is ordinary ink, one undo, and X, M and U on the keyboard.
• Plot a graph: pick "Plot a graph" in Shapes, type y = x^2 - 2 and a range, drag a box, and the curve appears over its axes to a square scale. One undo removes the whole graph. Understands sin, cos, tan, sqrt, ln, log, pi and friends, written the way you write them (2x, 3sin x).
• Graph paper was already in Paper templates; the stamps are for when only part of the page is a graph.
• Quiet consistency pass: one set of icon sizes and three named shadows everywhere, tilt cards on the site match the other cards, and the homework quick-look now holds keyboard focus properly and hands it back on close.
• The bottom bar groups itself: your place on the left, pages in the middle, board controls on the right, with thin marks between.
• The all-pages button now names the chapter you are in and your place, like "Trig · 14/32".
• The go-to box in the page drawer takes chapter names as well as numbers: type "trig" and land on the chapter.
• Hold a page chevron and the pages keep turning; a tap still turns one.
• The toolbar reads left to right as make, fix, handle: pen, shapes and text together, then the eraser, then select, pan and point, with the colour dot on the right edge. Thin marks show the groups.
• Pencil strokes stay put. They used to vanish the first time the page repainted (a reload, a page turn, a zoom).
• Lines, boxes and ovals show while you drag them out again, not just when you let go.
• Laying the Apple Pencil towards flat now visibly broadens the pencil line for shading, up to double width; upright writing is unchanged.
• Fast handwriting renders rounder: medium gaps between samples get more curve fill, so quick loops facet less.

30 August 2026

• The walkthrough and every clip re-recorded from the current product: the composer, a student ticking parts and the quick look, the tutor's bell and Settings, key notes, two pages side by side, the locked picture. The site's homework copy, the features page (18 cards), the docs steps, the guides, the compare tables and the parents' FAQ follow. The agency page and pricing card now say the organisation tier is in pilot.
• Sign-up: the invite code and profile answers survive the email confirmation step (they were lost if you confirmed on your phone), the code field says when it is needed, and a signed-in tutor at the front door goes to their shelf.
• Marking and a score: a tick or a cross drawn inside a homework part marks it, so the row reads "3 of 4 correct" for tutor and student; deleting the mark unmarks. A part can carry marks out of N in the composer, and a tick inside it then asks how many were earned: "12 / 20". The student's bell hears "Homework marked".
• Notifications: students get their own bell on the shelf (homework set, changed, taken back, due tomorrow) and can ask for a day-before email once they have added an address. Tutors choose per kind in Settings (off, the bell, or the bell plus an email at once), with two new kinds: a part ticked, and a student opening a book you are not on. A line pushes straight to a board you have open. The daily email now goes after 7am in your timezone, once a day, and the due-tomorrow line reaches the bell once per task rather than once per sweep.
• Composer polish from review: the board's chrome font everywhere in it (a fallback had been landing on the browser's serif), a Dropdown primitive for the book switch, Box an area (the panel fades while you draw), Pick pages as a grid of page pictures, the sheet sits above the page strip on narrow screens, and part pictures open a quick look on the student's page and the shelf.
• The homework composer: a panel beside the board that holds one homework for the student, as pictures of its parts. Box a question or add pages from any of their books, reorder, re-box or remove, switch book without losing anything, then Set. It edits set homework the same way until hand-in. Set homework on the dashboard picks the book and opens it. Drafts live on the server. The homework boxes on the pages are drawn and removed by the server, so parts in other books stay in step.
• Students tick each part from their shelf or while walking the parts on the board; the last tick is the hand-in. Tutors see "2 of 4 done" and the part pictures.
• Two pages side by side: View, Two pages shows the current page and its partner like an open book, both writable; ink on the right half lands on the right page, arrows and the strip's chevrons turn the pair, zoom and pan cover both. Wide stages only; the setting is per device. Export is unchanged.
• Key notes: box the one line to remember, tap Key note, and a copy lands on a Key notes page at the front of the chapter, locked and captioned with its page number. The next note stacks below; a full page starts another. Deleting the box removes the copy; undo takes the lot. The strip labels the page and the shelf shows a Key notes chip on the book.
• Homework in parts: box a question, add a whole page, box another on the next page, then Done once. The student walks the parts with Prev and Next and hands in once; the tutor sees the parts as chips. Distributing a worksheet as homework makes one task of exactly the pages sent.
• A daily email, off by default: what students did since yesterday and homework due tomorrow, one a day at most, with a one-tap stop link. Settings switches it on.
• Box some working and drag it from anywhere inside the box, including the gap between lines; everything inside moves together. A box over a locked image moves only what is written on top of it.
• Lock a pasted image: Lock on its menu, or the badge at its corner. Locked, it ignores taps and boxes so it cannot be nudged while you mark work written over it; unlock from the badge or the page menu.
• A bell in the header: hand-ins, new student sign-ins and homework due tomorrow, with a count; opening it marks them read and each line goes to the student.
• Importing a canvas-sized PDF (a Miro or Ziteboard export) offers to split it into A4 tiles: pick how many across, portrait or landscape, reading order, skip blank tiles, with the grid drawn over the page.
• Exported PDFs carry "Made with Writeboard" in the footer; on the Tutor plan a Settings switch turns it off.
• The tick or cross on a marked box now sits at the bottom-right outside corner, level with the box.
• Copy instructions: a ready-to-send message on the student's page with the link, the code, the three rules and how to sign in on another device. A student's shelf says the same on first visit; writeboard.uk/for/students says it in six lines.
• The empty shelf's three steps are a numbered rail; tap the 1 to add a student.
• Payments are open: choose the Tutor plan in Settings (£6 a month or £60 a year), pay in Stripe's checkout, manage the card or cancel in Stripe's portal. A failed card shows a banner on the shelf and gets a week.
• Boxing an answer written over a pasted screenshot now selects the answer, not the screenshot: a box picks ink it touches but an image only when it encloses it. A tap still selects the image.
• The tick or cross on a marked box sits just outside its top-right corner, off the working.
• Settings: choose the Tutor plan (£6 a month or £60 a year) and pay in Stripe's checkout; manage card and cancellation in Stripe's portal. Hidden until payments open.

• Insert → From Google Drive: pick a PDF or an image from your Drive (once the tutor-side Google keys are in place).
• Undo and redo can be dragged out of the strip by their grip and float anywhere on the board; drop them back on the strip to dock. The spot is remembered on your account.
• The toolbar on a side rail opens its menus beside the rail instead of clipping them, and its split buttons stack so the rail is not cramped.
• A finger or palm on the page strip no longer turns the page while you are writing or just after; with the view locked, touch taps on the strip are ignored too (the pen, the mouse and the keyboard still work).
• Sign out from the header of every dashboard page, not only from Settings.
• New book asks for subject, level and exam board and names itself from them ("Maths GCSE (AQA)"); type your own name to override.
• A refused sign-up says why (the username rule, a weak password, a taken name with a suggested alternative, a dead invite) and each refusal is recorded so a student who could not get in leaves a trace.
• The box, line and oval tools draw straight edges and sharp corners instead of smoothed blobs.
• The book's name on the board is a label; rename it from the shelf under Details, so a stray tap cannot open a dialog mid-lesson.
• The home page shows a 22-second loop of the real product, and every feature card carries its own clip. Regenerated on each release.
• Guides: tutoring with an iPad, past papers on a whiteboard, pages for maths tutors and agencies, and an honest comparison with BitPaper and six other tools.
• Student emails on the tutor's page are hidden as a pixel mosaic until clicked, with a copy button, and hide again two seconds later.
