A free invoice template for tutors

Fill in your lessons and save a UK tutoring invoice as a PDF, laid out as Writeboard's own invoices are. No sign-up, and nothing you type is sent anywhere: the invoice is made in this browser, which keeps the form for next time.

Updated 24 October 2026. It runs in your browser and sends nothing anywhere.

How to pay

No VAT is added: private tuition by an individual teacher acting independently is exempt, as our guide to invoicing tutoring clients explains with its source.

Do this every month from your lessons

On Writeboard's Tutor Plus plan, nobody types an invoice: the lessons you answer Done become the month's invoices, one for each person who pays, in this layout, numbered and ready to send. See Pricing.

Questions tutors ask

Is the invoice template really free?

Yes, with no sign-up and no limit. Fill it in and save the PDF as often as you like; it is laid out as the invoices Writeboard issues on Tutor Plus.

Where does what I type go?

Nowhere. The invoice is drawn in your own browser and saved to your device; nothing is sent to Writeboard or anybody else. The browser keeps the form between visits, so next month starts from this one, and Clear the form empties it.

Should the invoice include VAT?

Usually not. Private tuition by an individual teacher acting independently, in a subject taught in schools or universities, is exempt from VAT, so the template adds none. Our guide to invoicing tutoring clients says when that changes.

What must a UK invoice show?

A unique number, your name and address, who you are invoicing, what you are charging for and when, the date of the invoice and the total. Every one of those is a box on this form.
